The Random Life of Aveen 2.0

Hey Everyone,

After several weeks of inactivity and inner frustration, I have decided to give my beloved page a fresh start. It sounds like a cliché to call it ''The Random Life of Aveen 2.0'' yet I feel that my life has altered a lot in the past two years since this blog was created - something which should be seen visually through my blog.

When I started blogging, I was a different person. I'd like to see my blog as a reflection of who I am now. A near 19 year old finished secondary school with a lot ahead of her. In 2013 I was 16 and going through a turbulent phase of my life, unsure of who I was or who those surrounding me were either. However, that's all in the past and enough time has passed since.

I'm not entirely sure of the direction I am going with for The Random Life of Aveen. All I know is that I crave change, a fresh start and a new thought process. As you know , I finished the Leaving Cert last week. Since then, I've felt all the stress and worry that weighed heavily on my shoulders for two years rise and evaporate from me. For the first time since I started in 2013, I feel free. This newly found and craved freedom should also be reflected and portrayed here.

I like to think as TRLOA as a new canvas for my musings, thoughts and rambles. I now have the ability to once again think independently and of my own accord. To no longer conform to possessing the same thoughts as my peers for terminal written exams - even if only for a number of weeks - is wonderfully challenging, leaving me in fits of freedom-induced delirium.

I spotted this notebook while out shopping a couple of weeks ago. I was one exam away from completing the exams. The tantalising scent of summer mixed with freedom was overwhelming. I felt that the quote on the front of the notebook was quite apt for the stage of life I am currently residing in. ''The best way to prepare for life is to begin to live''

I have existed for nearly two years, now my opportunity to live and breathe in fresh oxygen mixed with ideas and inspiring literature beckons so strongly. It would be a waste to not try and scribble down all my musings once more.

During the Leaving Cert in my brief moments of respite, I would scroll through my Instagram feed and always felt motivated by the daily quotes that 'StudyClix' posted. This one in particular struck me. I've always felt that writing was the main hobby that fuelled my senses. I am a writer and always have been. I realise now, writing and scrawling down my thoughts and feelings into the margins of tens of notebooks is what invigorates me. It is the catalyst that sets my soul on fire. I must always write and can never stop. It is finally time to guarantee that I persist in writing. I breathe in words and letters and that is how it has always been.

Have you recently finished exams and felt the overwhelming emotion of freedom rush through your veins?

My Room Redecoration !

Hey Everyone!

Sorry for being very quiet here and on other websites as of late. This is mainly due to preparing for going back to school and everything else life throws at me. However the main reason is that I recently got my room redecorated!

From previous blog posts and YouTube videos, you might know that my room used to be what I called, 'A Fandom Room' which was turquoise and covered in huge posters and quotes from every fandom known to man. (Including my favourite, the Phandom)

As I'm approaching my eighteenth birthday and being told how I'll be an adult (voting is probably one of the things I'm most excited for) I decided that my room should reflect how my life is going to be changing in the next year or two, ie Leaving Cert and college.

I really like my new room colour scheme, my room feels very peaceful and quiet. It feels like my place to just relax, except next week when I'm back in school! Here are some photos of my room, if you flick through previous blog post you'll see a dramatic difference in its appearance!

I will also be uploading a YouTube video of my room as well which you can view as soon as it's uploaded!

New duvet/pillow/curtains are from Arnotts.

New canvas pictures! I bought them all in Dunnes Stores

Yes I bought the Dan Howell poster in Shout! I am such a fangirl..

Casual selfie..

New laptop, an Asus.

New mirror!

PS, Myself and Grace were in our local newspaper for being nominated in The Blog Awards Ireland! Click HERE to vote for 'The Random Life of Aveen' Voting closes on 18th September and you can vote once a week, thank you all for your support in this category and in other categories. It's been utterly surreal to have been nominated!

''You Don't Get To Choose If You Get Hurt In This World...But You Do Have Some Say In Who Hurts You. I Like My Choices.''

Hey Everyone!

IT'S OFFICIALLY FEBRUARY! *Happy dance* I honestly felt that January was possibly the longest month in existence. It seemed to drag on & on endlessly! At least now it's February so signs of Spring will begin to appear more prominently each day.

This week seemed to fly by! I can't believe I've been back in school for four weeks, it feels as though it's a lot longer. I didn't get as much homework this week thankfully (although some teachers did pile on the homework, but I finished it before the weekend) I have a feeling all my teachers are desperate for Mid-Term (I know I am)

I had an interesting week especially in business, when my teacher told us to write a fairytale about how ''Ireland had lots of money, what happened next?'' As I love writing, I got a little carried away and wrote over 2 A4 pages in small writing, in comparison to half a copy page that everyone else wrote. My teacher actually liked mine, got a copy of it and actually read it to other people (incl my old business teacher) My embarrassment was actually indescribable! (If you're wondering, I wrote a story using childish language (intentionally) about how the IMF put Ireland in the naughty corner..) Yep, *sighs* the things I do..

Today was an interesting day. I started the day on my uncle's farm tagging the calves. If you wondering what tagging is, it's when you put an identification tag in the calves ears (it's standard practice all over Ireland) so the calves history and identity is known if it was sold to another farmer or whatever. As I'm studying Ag Science, I have to do a project on dairy farming so it was an ample time to take photos!

Later on I went to a meeting with the Gaeltacht I'm going to during the summer. As it's my first Summer going, I had to go to an interview to assess my standard of Irish. Overall it went really well. I've been planning this for nearly a year now, it seems strange that it's less than six months away now!

During the week, you may know about The Fault In Our Stars trailer being released. I watched the trailer as soon it was released. It was absolutely amazing! I mean, I cried after watching it (I watched it again before writing this and I started sobbing) but I think the casting is so accurate and brilliant. I'm honestly looking forward to seeing the movie (ahem Ansel Elgort yes) and John Green cast Ansel and Shailene so they must accurately portray both Augustus and Hazel Grace. In honour of the book that destroyed my emotions, this blog post is titled after one of my favourite quotes from the book.

Today is also Harry Styles' birthday. As I have a cardboard cut-out of Harry, I decided to help him celebrate! Photos are down below, and I think Harry loved his tiny cake and candle.. (HAPPY BIRTHDAY)

With Harry and his cake/candle :)

Tagging calves.. as you do.

''Are you trying to put the tags in my ear?!''

With Harry, HB!

So that's it from me for now,

What A Treacherous Thing To Believe That A Person Is More Than A Person..

Hey Everyone!

Sorry for not posting last week. In a nutshell, I had a tonne of homework/study and honestly didn't have a minute to myself to write a blog post. It really did irritate me that I couldn't post anything, but the reality is that my schoolwork has to take priority over everything for the next couple of years so I can achieve what I want with my life.

My life has been quite quiet lately which may make my blog posts seem 'dull' but everything is still going by as quickly as other weeks. It feels as though I haven't been on my blog in weeks and I'm not sure how I like that. I was considering a brief break/hiatus while I figured out what I was writing on my blog, however I don't think it's quite necessary any more.

The title of this blog post is a quote from one of my favourite authors, John Green. If you didn't know, I have a John Green book shrine and several of his quotes plastered all over my bedroom walls. I really relate to many of his quotes, and in particular this quote. It is a dangerous thing to believe that a person is more than a person. You're liable to get hurt and to excuse their actions much more than if they were simply a ''person''

But on a more positive note, I'll tell you about my week (and maybe an extract of a draft blog post I'd been planning) I'm not sure if I said it already, but I'd like to say a huge thank you for helping me reach 12,000 page views on my blog recently, every thousand is a huge milestone and I appreciate it immensely.

So my last two weeks have been filled with school work, procrastinating, studying, flinging maths books across my room (possible slight exaggeration but it's how I felt) & learning how to write an essay about the environment in Irish. I've been learning my seanfhocal (Irish sayings) so thoroughly that I've begun to start using them in actual conversation, much to the confusion of my family and friends.

I also received a letter from the Gaeltacht I'm going to in the summer (more details later) about a meeting I've to attend in early February (it's compulsory when it's your first time to the Gaeltacht) and I have to learn Amhran na bhFiann (which I know most of already from primary school wahey) so I'll be singing the national anthem for the next few weeks, which may be awkward.

So while I'm on the topic of the Gaeltacht, I suppose I should explain what it is and why I'm going there. The Gaeltacht(s) are multiple areas all over Ireland where only Irish is spoken. In the summer, you can stay on courses in Gaeltacht areas (mainly in Galway) for up to three weeks and speak the language and improve your vocabulary. I'm going in early June of this year for three weeks. So yes, there are vacancies for guest posts during that time too. (I'll be mentioning further details of this closer to the time) I'm hoping staying in the Gaeltacht will improve my Irish. I'm studying Honours Irish in my Leaving Cert and I need a good grade if I want to become a primary school teacher. So I'm determined to make the most of the three weeks I'll be over there!

This honestly terrified me, well, because I'm seventeen and planning for someday.

My House At Halloween!

Hey Everyone!

First of all, HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Due to my obsession with Halloween, I've been posting a lot about Halloween! Perhaps in this blog post we will discover the roots of my obsession!

Basically ever since I was a child, my Mam has been obsessed with Halloween and always decorates the house. When I was younger, we even grew pumpkins in the back garden. Believe it or not, growing pumpkins took up practically the entire garden. We would harvest the pumpkins in early October and keep them in the garage so inside the garage nearly had an orange glow!

And now, I love Halloween even more. I help decorate and even decorate my own room with streamers and little witches and pumpkins! Yesterday we were carving the pumpkins and it was so fun.

Here's some photos of my house at Halloween! I hope you enjoy it!
If you have any questions or want a chat, just email me, tweet me or leave a comment below! xx
This post will be VERY photo heavy!

I didn't get photos of the trick or treat bags however, but they look UH-MAY-ZING. (Amazing!)
