Othello Came To The Realisation That By Killing Desdemona, He Destroyed The Best In Himself..

Hey Everyone!

So you may have noticed I haven't posted in a little while, this is mainly because of my Christmas exams which are next week *gulps*

The past few weeks have been in two words, a blur. The past couple of weeks have flown by and I don't know where I'm standing (quite literally) I never quite realised how quickly time can go by, it's somewhat frightening. From my tired mind filled with random Othello quotes (spent this afternoon studying Othello for my English exam, fun) I'll tell you all a little about my weeks recently.

So I last spoke to you all ten days ago on my day off, which seems like a year ago! I had just gotten my tripod, which was named yesterday as ''FredOrGeorge'' which is a Harry Potter reference, you can't choose between the Weasley twins. My friend Grace of Dainty Sprinkles wanted to name the tripod George whilst my friend Tara said I should name it Fred. So it is now called FredOrGeorge because I kept saying to myself ''Fred or George, should I name the tripod Fred or George?'' Realisation hit. So welcome to the world FredOrGeorge!

For History class we went to the cinema to see the film ''The Butler'' if you haven't seen it yet, go check it out! The visuals could be a lot better however the actual story is brilliant and very historical. Seeing Oprah Winfrey and Alan Rickman in the movie was brilliant (Along with Alex Pettyfer but I honestly nearly cried because his acting was so good and portrayed how evil he was)

Last Wednesday (27th November) Myself and three people from my English class (won't name them, as I haven't asked their permission oops) took part in a public speaking competition about mental health with two other schools. For me personally, it was a big deal, I've never had much confidence with speaking up about something (in my childhood, bullying) let alone in front of other people, making eye contact. On top of that with the usual insecurities along with insecurities about my accent, I was honestly terrified.

We all spoke for 6 minutes about our topics, we spoke about ''In Life You Can't Stop The Waves, But You Can Learn How Surf Them'' I was first up for our school and I was terrified, heart racing, sweaty palms, the lot. I began to speak and everything clicked for me. I made eye contact with practically everyone in the room (this is the person who looks at the floor whilst walking in corridors) and spoke quite clearly. I was delighted with how it went.

Unfortunately we didn't get through to the next round, but I feel that as it was our first ever competition, we really did ourselves proud. I know there are some people I know who will probably laugh and say it was because of me, my accent or whatever, but I honestly don't care, you never can control me any more. (Should I mention I was speaking to the chairperson afterwards who congratulated me on an excellent speech?)

I was back in school after the competition and let's just say, A LOT of drama happened. It didn't involve me personally thankfully but a certain announcement made over the intercom about ''The skangers and scumbags and no I will not apologise for calling them that'' the next day literally made my life.

You might also be wondering, Why is the blog post about Othello from the play by Shakespeare?
Well.... I was basically studying Othello all afternoon and one particular line really jogged my thought processes, ''Othello Came To The Realisation That By Killing Desdemona, He Destroyed The Best In Himself..''  I thought it was quite interesting and quite accurate. Desdemona was infatuated with Othello and even though he murdered her, she didn't tell Emilia it was Othello who killed her, ''Nobody; I myself'''. Othello then realised he had been played by his ensign Iago, Othello subsequently killed himself, deeming himself to be an ''honourable murderer'' but there is nothing honourable in murdering someone as innocent and as pure as the ''Divine Desdemona'' and realising that by killing Desdemona, he destroyed the best in himself.

A photo from Twitter that made my life.. (I'm a Sherlock fan as you can tell, yes I ship Johnlock!)

It's FredOrGeorge!

What a bright, optimistic and happy ending!
Stay Strong, Happy and Fearless!
